Sit at one of the outdoor pavement cafes’ and simply watch the world go by. Italian coffee and ice-cream are really the best.

Stroll around town, discover beautiful churches, historical monuments, museums and gardens, or rent a bicycle and ride or jog along the six mile ancient wall which circles the city and is the longest in the whole of Europe.
You can also charter a boat for fishing or pleasure and sail down the Po where river meets sea and experience the wonderful flora and fauna. Stop off for lunch at the enchanting lighthouse by the banks of the river.

Palazzo dei Diamanti: for those who love art the Palazzo dei Diamanti houses the City Gallery of Modern Art and the National Gallery.
There are several exhibitions throught the year of old masters, Picasso, Constable, Sisley, Dahl, Munch, etc..
Year round outdoor antique and flea market open first week-end of each month.
Outdoor market stalls every Monday and Friday mornings selling clothes shoes, lingerie, flowers, food, fruits and vegetables, make-up and household wares, etc..
New Year’s Eve: Spectacular fire works display from the Castle. Amazing colourful show lasting 1 hour. Not to be missed!
Carnival – February-March: World famous Cento Carnival twinned with the renowned Rio De Janeiro procession. Dozens of colourful floats on display. Every week-end for a whole month. A unique experience!

International Kite Festival – April: Come fly your kite in Ferrara!

Mille Miglia – May: Historical re-make of the famous car race. Around three hundred vintage cars stop overnight in Ferrara, including rare Ferrari models.
Palio Medieval Festival – May: Hundreds of local people take part in this annual event wearing beautiful and detailed medieval costumes. Marching bands and flag throwing. Oldest Festival in the world.
 
Summertime in Ferrara – June-Sept.: Series of free outdoor shows and concerts take place throughout the summer.
Busker Music Festival – August: The city turns into 200.000 sq.meters of street stage. Musicians and street performers congregate from every corner of the globe. Highly entertaining, if you love music this is one not to miss!
